Anthony John Coletti
Anthony John Coletti grew up in the small town of Swampscott on the Atlantic seaboard 10 miles north of the city of Boston, where he went to school at the Art Institute of Boston and earned a degree in Sociology at Suffolk University. After apprenticing with local photographers, he opened up his own studio in Boston working with corporations, design firms and advertising agencies, and developed a passion for photographing people and architecture. He has won awards through the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) for his portrait and location work.
Looking for a change and a warmer climate, he moved to Saint Petersburg, FL and began working with local businesses and started to concentrate on more editorial and travel related work. This work has become popular with publishers, advertisers, and as wall art. After many years of travelling around the world, he is starting to appreciate the landscapes and natural wonders of Florida and the Southern states of the USA. This northern boy is finally being won over by the charms of the South.
My inspiration to create and document the world around us through photography came from studying the great photojournalists (Henri Cartier-Bresson, W. Eugene Smith) and commercial photographers (Pete Turner, Irving Penn), who were known for their unique compostions and storytelling abilities. I have always thought of myself as a journalist who uses a camera to try and understand and create a better world that at times can seem very chaotic.
