Joni Schinske
Finding fossils on her family farm in Minnesota sparked Joni’s journey into art through archaeology, where she began sketching artifacts as part of her college studies. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Museum Studies, focusing on archaeology and graphic art. This led to a 20-year career as a museum director and exhibit designer.
Now retired, Joni is a regional and national award-winning artist who continues to create in a variety of mediums. Her love of outdoor art has led her to transform old fence boards into colorful works of art, many of which can be seen adorning homes throughout the Old Southeast neighborhood.
Her Provincetown-inspired prints featuring vintage fishing lures add a nostalgic touch to her ever-evolving repertoire, while her whimsical figure wood carvings offer yet another glimpse into her creative spirit. From archaeological artifacts to weathered fence boards, Joni’s artistic journey continues to explore the stories.
