After nearly a decade of service on the OSNA Board of Directors, Bill Dahl will be stepping down at the end of 2024 to focus on his work with other non-profits in the community. Bill has been an invaluable asset to Old Southeast, and we would like to thank him for all the good he has done for our neighborhood.
Bill’s journey with the Old Southeast Neighborhood Association (OSNA) began over seven years ago when he joined the Board of Directors. He was elected President in 2019, a role he held for three years. Under his leadership, the neighborhood flourished, with significant improvements in preservation and safety.
As a passionate advocate for Old Southeast, Bill has represented the neighborhood with local leaders and at the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), ensuring that the community's voice is heard and its needs addressed. Notably, under Bill’s leadership, the speed limit within the neighborhood was reduced, and signage was increased. He was also instrumental in securing protection for Lassing Park under the Waterfront Parks Foundation.
Bill’s hands-on approach has inspired many to take pride in our neighborhood and actively participate in its upkeep. His leadership has been evident in Earth Day events, CareFest activities, and numerous neighborhood cleanups that have encouraged residents to preserve the beauty and charm of Old Southeast. Additionally, Bill worked tirelessly on the multi-phase Living Shoreline Restoration Project to mitigate severe erosion on the north end of Lassing Park. Thanks to this project, sand and vegetation are now replenishing the oyster balls and oyster shell reef.
One of the most endearing aspects of Bill's involvement in the Old Southeast has been his role as Santa Claus at OSNA holiday events. His generous spirit and commitment to making the neighborhood a welcoming place for all have shone through in all he does.
Bill has worked diligently to protect and enhance Old Southeast. His unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark on the community, making it a better place for future generations. Bill is the embodiment of the neighborhood’s heart and soul. His legacy of service, advocacy, and neighborly love will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
