OSNA recently received a $10,000 grant from the City of St. Pete to plant new shady trees in Old Southeast. The project requires OSE resident participation. In August, 18 OSE residents attended a tree inventory training and/or helped count the trees in the neighborhood as part of the requirements of the grant.

More than 700 trees were counted!

OSE tree distribution:

  • • Live Oak 21%
  • • Sabal Palm 14%
  • • Fox Tail Palm 8.4%
  • • Seagrape 5.2%
  • • Laurel Oak 4.7%

OSNA was also able to complete the majority of our volunteer hours required for the funding. We anticipate 26 to 30 trees going into public easement areas of OSE in November 2023.

New volunteers: We will be doing another round of counting in September 2023. Please watch the OSNA Facebook page, the OSNA website or This email address is being protected from spambots.
